Dec 20, 2018 – USAID’s SEED launched the first Dairy VC’s Market Information System (MIS) in Egypt “Albannet.com” in cooperation with Knowledge Economic Foundation/Bashair to serve the dairy stakeholders and disseminate accurate and up-to-date data regarding the dairy industry.
The newly-launched platform includes information on the dairy products, supplies, suppliers, buyers, technical instructions, updated Market prices, etc. The first phase of the system includes data on over 3,000 MSMEs in the dairy sector from Gharbeya and Damietta governorates, comprising dairy farmers, veterinarians, milk collection centers, dairy processors, etc.
SEED held the launch event at the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek to introduce the system to a host of dairy value chain stakeholders. More than 50 attendees were briefed on the system’s main features through a presentation delivered by INJAZ, the SEED contractor that developed the system. The event also included several presentations given by prominent representatives of GOE entities working in the dairy sector such as: the General Authority for Food Safety, the Food Technology Research Institute, the Agricultural Bank of Egypt as well as Misr Food Additives Company (MIFAD) from the private sector.
SEED project aims at supporting SMEs within the dairy sector in creating business linkages with large buyers, expand their exposure to different market opportunities and simultaneously provide them with first-time different online services, e.g. introducing various services offered by financial institutions, information and data on equipment and machinery, transportation , etc.
